Which browsers can be used with SmartKanji.net?

The recommended browsers are Mozilla Firefox and Microsoft Internet Explorer 7. Other browsers are supported as much as possible but are not so thoroughly tested.

IE6 may still work for some time but it is not guaranteed to work with future versions of the site.

Linux: Firefox recommended. Konqueror 3.5 is NOT compatible.

Macintosh: Firefox recommended. Safari 2.0 is NOT compatible. Safari 3.0 is expected to work (tested on PC, not tested on Macintosh).

What is the "Same text" menu for?

SmartKanji.net benefits from several distinct dictionaries. When you have annoted a text with one language or dictionary, you just have to click on a "Same text" entry to annotate the same text with another dictionary. The result is displayed in a new window or a new tab, so both annotations are available simultaneously.

Tip: with Internet Explorer 7, use Ctrl+click to open a new tab (press the "Control" key while you click).

How to adjust Japanese fonts?

The web site does not specify a particular Japanese font. Japanese fields are marked with "ja" (language) and "sans-serif" (font-family), so each user can choose his or her preferred font with the browser options.
